# Free Agent

> Free Agent is a Toronto-first, multi-sport marketplace that matches adult rec-league captains and managers who are short a player with sub players who fit the request. There are zero platform fees for either side: 100% of what a captain offers goes to the player, paid directly by Interac e-Transfer or cash. Status: pre-launch, waitlist open.

## What it does
- Captains post a request through a short form or in plain language, e.g. "need a goalie tomorrow 6:45pm, C div, $40".
- Only players who match on sport, position, location radius, skill level, gender (where a league requires it), availability and minimum pay are notified. This replaces mass WhatsApp/group-chat blasts.
- Each request gets a suggested market price based on similar requests (for example, "requests like this usually fill around $X").
- Free Agent never holds or processes payment. Captains pay players directly.

## Key facts
- Fees: $0 platform fee for captains, $0 for players. Existing sub-booking apps publicly describe keeping roughly 30% of the fee.
- Location: Toronto and the GTA first.
- Sports: all of them (hockey, soccer, basketball, volleyball, ultimate, softball, dodgeball, pickleball, flag football and more), every gender and level.
- Early focus: adult hockey goalies, and co-ed gender-minimum fills (e.g. women players in co-ed soccer, basketball, volleyball).
- Not a league or agency. It's a matching tool. Users follow their own league's sub rules.

- To join, a human enters an email, picks a role (captain, player or both) and sport(s), and ticks the email-consent box (CASL). An optional second step collects matching details.
